Sally, age 49, damaged her knee when running at the gym at the beginning of June. Her knee was really swollen, she couldn’t put any weight on it and needed crutches to get around.
JCC, age 73 Treatment-Left Hip Replacement
JCC, age 73, had left hip replacement surgery 12 years ago which was a success. Therefore, when in October 2017 she started feeling increasing pain, discomfort and lack of mobility in her right hip, she realised a new hip was very likely. Due to the NHS referral system and long waiting lists JCC suffered months and months of distressing symptoms and lack of mobility, needing a walking stick out of the house.
Meryl, age 48Treatment – Total Hip Replacement
Meryl, a former long-distance runner was persuaded by her family to visit her GP when she was 42 years old because she was in severe pain and starting to limp. Meryl’s family were concerned that the maternal line in their family had osteoarthritis; her Grandma diagnosed in her early 40s and her mother in her 70s. Meryl had also suffered a sports injury whilst running, hitting a dog and falling on her right hip when she was younger, creating an ongoing weakness.
Sheena, age 63TREATMENT: Total Hip Replacement
Sheena, age 63, was first treated by Mr. Vedi eight years previously as an NHS patient and underwent successful surgery on her right knee.
Sue, age 72TREATMENT: Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injection into hip
In March 2019, Sue was having extreme problems with her back. A former tennis player for 30 years and usually a very active person, she was walking her dog on a stoney beach when the pain came on – she went to the physio who said it was bursitis.
